Previous LUTHERIE seminars.
The Lutherie spring seminars were started in 1998 by Robert Cain, a Luthier and Teacher at the Newark School of Violinmaking.
The purpose is to provide a unique event which brings together people from all backgrounds, to share ideas, make useful contacts and have a bit of fun. The seminars are run on the following principles:-
Ÿ
Minimum consumption and  wastage of resources. The seminar is run on a shoestring with help from volunteers, friends and a few paid helpers. Its a bit rough around the edges but incredible value.
Ÿ
Seminar funds, where possible, are directed towards a nominated charitable cause. Past beneficiaries have included the Rowan Armour- Brown Trust, Luthiers sans Frontiers UK and the Haiti Music Schools.
Ÿ
Speakers are invited from diverse backgrounds. Some controversial, some pillars of the establishment.
Ÿ
The Seminar should be accessible to everyone whether amateur, professional, student or just interested.
LUTHERIE is run as an independent venture but receives valuable help from Newark College who lend their Car park, furniture and technical equipment.
